Jiu-jitsu Academy Membership cancelation
Location: California
I have my children enrolled in a jiu-jitsu academy where they have been attending for a few years and are looking to cancel.
When we initially signed on, we knew there were terms agreed upon but never received a copy of what we signed and cannot refer to such document. Once we made it known that we intended to cancel they sent over a word document in which their terms seem to be inconsistent and unreasonable. I have asked for the initial contract but have yet to receive it.
Not sure if it is pertinent but when we signed up they used to belong to a major franchise and then in the past years went off on their own.
We have not been able to attend classes even though we paid last month and have no intention of attending anymore but according to the instructor we still have to pay next month. The reason we intend to cancel is financial hardship.
See word for word document below.
