No woman wants to date a guy with bad oral hygiene - trust me because I’ve been that guy
This might sound harsh, but it’s true. bad oral hygiene is a total dealbreaker. I’ve seen women lose interest instantly over yellow teeth, bad breath, or that faint “I didn’t floss” smell. You can be funny, confident, whatever, but if your breath stinks, the vibe’s gone.
I learned this the hard way. My teeth were super crooked growing up, but my parents wouldn’t let me get braces. I spent my teens smiling with my mouth closed and avoiding conversations. Someone once joked I had “coffee teeth” (I didn’t even drink coffee), and that stuck with me.
When I finally started working, I saved up and got metal braces for almost three years. Now I’m on Invisalign to tweak the last few spots. I still have my wisdom teeth, though, and that tiny gap between them and my molars used to trap food constantly, so I had to step up my routine.
That’s what pushed me to completely overhaul my oral hygiene routine. I brush twice a day (sometimes three if I’ve had something strong-smelling like garlic or coffee), floss every night, and use a water flosser after dinner. I’ve also started using tongue scrapers and occasionally do saltwater rinses if my gums feel off. I use soocas neos ii ultra now, one of the soft-bristle head is a lifesaver for cleaning around those tight spots without making my gums bleed.
Before a date, I go all in: brush, water floss, mouthwash, maybe a quick whitening strip, then xylitol gum on the way. Sounds like overkill, but confidence hits different when you know your breath’s fresh.
So for the guys reading this:
- Brush and floss: brushing alone doesn’t cut it
- Replace your brush head every 3 months
- Skip mouthwashes with alcohol; they dry you out
- Drink more water: your mouth needs it to stay clean
- And for the love of god, don’t skip dental checkups.
Good teeth won’t make you perfect, but bad breath will definitely make you forgettable.
