In the US, wish to send gift card

Hi all. I live in the US and my company has an office in Bengaluru. I have a person on my team at this office and I would like to get him a generic gift card to use as he likes. Is there any us-based card that will work in India? If not, any ideas how I can purchase a gift card from an Indian source with US funds? Amazon.in doesn't allow me to purchase a gift card with a US credit card. I was thinking of sending a US Visa gift card, but I'm seeing conflicting information about whether these will work anywhere or not. Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!!
