LPT: If you can’t find a stud in the wall, just start screwing into random spots until something stops you. The wall will tell you when you’ve succeeded.

Stud finders lie. Your instincts don’t. Pick a spot, send a screw into the unknown, and listen for the sound of victory.

If it goes in too easy, try again. If it sparks, wrong spot. If you hear your neighbor yell, definitely wrong spot. If it stops with a satisfying thunk, congratulations. You found the stud. Or a pipe. Or possibly the electrical main.

Either way, you learned something, and that’s what DIY is all about.
