Double Cross Invasions Aren't Good
I get the idea behind them, a guardian tries to invade a team doing their mission but instead gets caught by someone else with the same idea and instead of sabotaging the enemy team, the two invaders have to duel it out.
In theory, this sounds good and would make the gamemode more immersive. However, in practise this doesn't quite work out because of how double cross invasions are designed. You spawn into a small arena with the other 'invader' and it feels like a glorified 1v1 where if your opponent is good, you can just get farmed when you spawn in and if I really wanted to play a free for all gamemode, I could just go and play rumble.
It would have been much cooler to see something like where if you are the invader and get caught in a 'double cross', during your invasion of another team the other invader also spawns in and you get a warning saying you are being 'double crossed'. You would then have to try and finish your invasion by meeting your kill goal before the other invader kills the enemy team first.
Similarly, if you are the 'double cross' invader, the goal of your invasion would be to 'steal' the kills of the original invader as well as killing him. This way, both invaders have two fail states: dying to the other team/other invader, or losing your potential kills to the other invader. I feel like this would make more sense as a 'double cross' invasion than what we currently have now. What do you think?
