Most of us know the big names – Arjuna, Krishna, Bhima, Draupadi, Karna, etc. – and they get endless discussions, shows, and retellings.
But the Mahabharata is insane when it comes to character depth. Some characters are so layered, morally gray, tragic, wise, or just plain fascinating that they almost feel like they belong to 21st-century psychological novels rather than an ancient epic.

Which characters do you think:

●Deserve way more attention, study, and discussion than they usually get ?

●Are constantly misrepresented or reduced to one-dimensional caricatures in TV shows, books, and movies ?

●Have such complex, contradictory, human personalities that you rarely (if ever) see that level of depth in any other literature — ancient or modern?

For me it's

▪︎Yuyutsu- the only kaurava who switched sides.

▪︎ Kunti – her secrets, her silences, her impossible choices as a mother. She needs to be discussed more apart from the karna thing.

▪︎ Ghatotkach and satyavati-insanely powerful characters who get sidelined in most retellings.

▪︎ Drupad- what a strategist he was.

☆Who are your picks for the most misunderstood, under-appreciated, or straight-up deepest characters in the entire epic?

☆Why do you think modern adaptations butcher them?
