Thinking of being Chp or city cop.

I was looking into both career paths and I was wondering what are the pros and cons of these jobs? I saw the flight officer position which is kinda cool, the one thing I heard about Chp is that you have to move somewhere far. Is there anything I can do to pick a place like the Bay Area, or is it random?
