Mike had never been a good man. Even at thirty-two years of age he'd failed to hold down a single relationship for more than a few months. He'd never had much of a career, currently working in the warehouse of an aerospace company. He'd never had kids, never even thought about it honestly. Everyone he'd met in life had overtaken him in one way or another.

But even for Mike this was a low that no one thought he would stoop to.

There was no way to put it. Yuki was a mail-order bride. Ten years his junior and from a poor family in Japan he'd exchanged some ungodly sum of money in order to have her sign marriage papers and pack up her life to move in with him.

The moment that the nervous young woman shuffled beside Mike the room filled with sour faces. People begun taking their turns scolding him, his own parents stating that she wouldn't be welcome at family events.
