What? I just learned Alta has a performing arts center now!
So... To preface its been years since I frequented the east side of the valley on a regular basis -- well we do go to Draper often enough. And Holladay weekly. So on the rare times we actually do drive by Sandy, almost always with kids in the car, we intentionally drive past Alta so we can point out 'where mom went to school'. (My daughter has a strong fascination with where hubs and I went to school and constantly asks about what we did in school and when we learned x that she is learning now, who taught us, etc.) It never fails to amaze me how much it changed and still is changing. (I do love the new style -- but I have memories in that old red brick building!) Today we were trying to remember what parks were on 7th East. And hubs and I thought we were remembering the same park, but turns out the one my ten year reunion was at is not the one he was thinking of. (Also wasn't until I looked at Google Maps that I realized 7th has a park at every other light! [maybe slight exaggeration])
Anyway all this to say, I only just realized it now has a performing arts center?! How did I miss that even though its been complete for four years?! What used to be there though? Am I wrong in thinking it was part parking and part like a lawn type area? Alta did have a fairly remarkable performing arts program when I was there, so I'm not surprised they built one (why did it take so long though?) but its changed so much! I saw a couple photos on google but how is it? Is it nice? Do they use it just for HS stuff or community events too? I'm so dang curious. (And what's next performance there? I kinda want to see what its like. And the performing arts programs of course)
