So absolutely disgusted by our NDP Government right now and Elected officials such as Grace Lore.

Women’s rights have been completely forgotten these days to make not be trumped by fad ideologies from one extreme to another. Before you comment : Denialism/ transphobe/ hater in general put yourself in the shoes of the victims and the family of the victims for just one moment before commenting and replying. We have all lost the plot just a little bit and need to come back to reality just a little. When someone’s comfort trumps that of disgusting treatment of offenders who get the same gender affirming care while incarcerated that a BCGEU employee would get that is in their contract our NDP should lose all votes of parents out there.

Please write to MLA Grace Lore also David Eby and demand answers like i did.

“I am writing as a deeply concerned British Columbian regarding the decisions, policies, and political attitudes that have allowed one of Canada’s most violent and notorious dangerous offenders — Adam Laboucan (who now identifies as “Tara Desousa”) — to receive gender-affirming medical care at public expense, to be transferred into a women’s correctional facility, and to be placed in proximity to the Mother-Child Unit.

This individual brutally assaulted a 3-month-old baby, causing catastrophic injuries, and has admitted to killing a three-year-old child years earlier. The notion that taxpayers are funding gender-affirming care for such a person is staggering on its own. But placing a male offender — one designated a dangerous offender and one of the most violent sexual predators in Canadian history — into a women’s prison, near mothers and infants, represents a complete abandonment of basic public-safety principles.

I also want to raise what I personally experienced when I brought this issue forward. When a member of the public approaches an MLA’s office to express legitimate fear and concern about violent offenders being placed in women’s institutions, it is unacceptable for MLA Grace Lore to dismiss those concerns by saying that I was “making them feel unsafe.”

This response was insulting, unprofessional, and emblematic of a government that appears so entrenched in ideological politics that it cannot listen to — or even tolerate — legitimate public safety concerns.

Throughout this matter, it appears the rights, comfort, and identity-based claims of a dangerous child predator have been prioritized over the rights of victims, their families, incarcerated women, and the public at large. This government repeatedly speaks about “trauma-informed practice,” yet seems unwilling to extend even a fraction of that consideration to the families whose children were mutilated, raped, and killed by this offender. Imagine how those parents must feel watching elected officials defend, accommodate, and medically fund the wants of the person who destroyed their lives.

We must stop pretending this is a theoretical policy debate. Real victims lost real children — and instead of honouring them, this government has bent over backwards to accommodate the person responsible for that horror.

I am requesting clear answers to the following: 1. Why is the Province of British Columbia permitting — and in some cases defending — the use of public funds for gender-affirming care for someone serving an indeterminate sentence as a dangerous offender? 2. What was the justification for approving or supporting the transfer of this individual into a women’s prison, despite the offender’s violent sexual history and obvious risk to women and children? 3. Why was this person housed near a Mother-Child Unit? Who approved that placement, and based on what rationale? 4. Does the government acknowledge the safety risks that female inmates and children in custody were subjected to under this policy? 5. Why are constituents being dismissed or treated as “unsafe” simply for raising legitimate concerns about public safety? 6. Will your parties — NDP, BC United, and the BC Conservatives — commit to reviewing and reforming BC’s correctional placement policies to ensure that violent male offenders are never again housed in women’s facilities?

British Columbians deserve clarity, accountability, and leadership — not political deflection or ideological talking points. The safety of women, children, and the public must come before the rights and comfort of a dangerous serial predator. I look forward to receiving a substantive response rather than the dismissive treatment I have already experienced.”
