[For Hire] Senior Software Engineer - $55/hour

Hi all, I’m a UK-based Senior Software Engineer available for part-time/evening work, and looking to take on a couple of extra projects. If you need an experienced engineer to build something meaningful (or rescue something that’s less meaningful at the moment), I’m your guy.

What I do:

I design and build production-ready systems across the stack, from scalable backend APIs to full web apps, mobile apps, and cloud infrastructure. I’ve worked across sectors including healthcare, fintech-adjacent environments, local government, and telecoms, with a strong emphasis on reliability, security, and cloud-native tooling

Tech I actually use day-to-day:

• Backend: Java (Spring Boot), NodeJS, PHP/Laravel, Python
• Frontend: Vue/Nuxt, React, React Native
• Cloud & Infra: AWS (EKS, EC2, S3), GCP (Vertex AI, networking), Azure, Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker
• Databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Oracle

Recent things I’ve delivered:

• Multi-tenant systems and high-performance data pipelines (7-second+ query latency reductions).
• A full React Native iOS/Android app for a healthcare provider, including APNs + Firebase messaging.
• An LLM-powered document/query tooling platform using Vertex AI + Python/Flask, on behalf of a major GCP partner.
• A JSON-driven abstraction layer letting Spring Boot query Salesforce, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and MySQL through a single unified JSON interface.
• Websites (WordPress or custom stacks), integrations, dashboards, and migration tooling

What I’m looking for:

Qualifications:
Masters Degree in Computer Science, UK Russell Group university, PhD candidate at the same university, 5 years professional experience, in both corporate and startup environments.

Availability:
UK evenings, fully remote. Limited slots, I'm looking to take on one or two solid projects.
