England - Where do we stand with SA?

Comments Moderated

Hi everyone,

Essentially a friend Person A accused another friend Person B of sexual assault, of which there is now an active police investigation, and is due to be concluded in Jan.

However another friend Person C works with Person B, and was told that following a made witness statement to the police, the police stated they do not need to report it to the workplace as they will do so.

Only issue is that the place of work has mandatory reporting of safeguarding issues in place and one of the higher management of Person C has said that there could be consequences as they should have reported it as soon as they knew. It has also been alluded to that there may be consequences as a result, and person C is panicking majorly as they've taken it to mean a potential loss of DBS and loss of income as a result.

Can I get some advice therefore as to how is best to proceed? I suggested union but Person C has said that again because of mandatory safeguard reporting etc. It may make it much worse.
