## What the Article Reports

The American Prospect details how Senator Marco Rubio has re-emerged as one of the most vocal advocates for aggressive U.S. intervention in Venezuela.
Framing Nicolás Maduro as an imminent hemispheric threat, Rubio is pushing what the article characterizes as a “campaign of permission”—an effort to shift public and political opinion toward accepting military options.

Rubio portrays intervention as both moral obligation and strategic necessity, arguing that Venezuela’s instability fuels migration, empowers criminal networks, and strengthens authoritarian influence in the region.
Behind the scenes, the piece notes, Rubio’s talking points align closely with hardline think tanks and defense-sector interests.

## How Rubio Makes the Case

The article describes Rubio’s pitch as a blend of urgency, moral clarity, and selective framing:

- **Humanitarian crisis** recast as justification for armed action.
- **Regional instability** emphasized while diplomatic avenues are downplayed.
- **Threat inflation** used to position Venezuela as a near-term danger rather than a long-term challenge.

It argues that Rubio is not simply advocating policy—he is shaping a narrative where war becomes the logical conclusion to a crisis defined almost entirely through catastrophe and villainy.
