Your dislike for team Turkey is justified

General Discussion

First of all, greetings from Turkey!

I recently started to watch the show with my gf and immediately knew somethings were off with the team that reprasents Turkey. We have many olympic athletes and known athletes overall. I mean I get it, competitive athletes are probably busy doing what they do, that's why we see people in their 40s compete in the show.

But the additude? Who are these people? Where's the sportmenship? So I looked them up since and found out 3 of them aren't even athletes. Especially Nefise Karatay. She literally says in her introduction that "I'm into many sports", like that it?? She's an influencer and a former winner of the show called "Survivor" (which is basically drama filled physical competitive tv show) that's known to be rigged. Not to mention the fact that she's 49 years old.

In that show contestans often give attitudes to play into the cameras. To cause drama, to be liked by people(so the audience can vote for them during finals) and this behaviour is encouraged if not forced on them. 3 of our team was hand picked to be former contenders of "Survivor". They have no athletic background otherwise. All this time watching, I was dying of cringe for how these "actors" represented Turkey.

And then it hit me. Ogeday, in one of the interview clips(idk what its called) literally says this, "......but this is Physical: Asia, where anything can happen" this.... this is a very similar sentence that Survivor contestans often use to generate drama "This is Survivor and XXXXX". These are showmen. You can't see them blood sweat and tear. They talk the talk but can't walk the walk, ever. So, it's natural for them to throw shade at their opponent.

You can see how Recep, Yasemin and Ali are quite humble and respectful when put them side to side. I don't think the team picks were rigged btw, just saying if they were to brought Rıza Kayaalp(5 times world champion wrestler) or Tuna Tavus(a HUGE bodybuilder) results would be a LOT different. And I just wish our team could represent our kindness and boldness in a better way.
