[Rant] I don't know what's worse
I just had a 2s (tournament) game where I played 2 bots, and idk what's worse. The bots, or my dumbass teammate.
Unfortunately, a bot wave ban is only a temporary fix and it's unsurprising that I'm already seeing them again, despite not being as high of a rank (C3). Not to say that I don't appreciate Psyonix's efforts, but more needs to be done still.
Regardless, the signs are all there. Stoctane, no player icon/banner, under 100 wins, and while you could still argue that they're smurfs, I think it's pretty obvious when they have the same name, and if you know to look out for it, you can see the wheels wiggling whenever they go to hold the ball on their hood. Granted, I do think it's becoming a bit more subtle, but if you look at a replay and see one of them without ball cam, that seals the deal.
On the other hand though, there's my teammate, who despite claiming that they're smurfs, still wants to keep playing when we're down 4-1 a minute in, then proceeds to let out his frustration on me, calling me bad, even though I carried him in the first game. Eventually he decides to idle, but at that point why are you not ff-ing? Why keep us in a game longer than necessary. Eventually he came to his senses though, so I'm happy about that.
Heres the thing. If they were Smurfs, I'd have no problem playing, because Smurfs don't really care. They'll at least let you play and troll for a bit until the end and then they'll win it. But bots don't care, and playing against them gives them data to work off of. And you might argue that all their training is done vs other bots, which is true, but why would they turn off their machine learning program in regular queues, and why would I bother giving them anything to work off of? At least if they get to the top, more competent players will notice them for what they are and send out more bans. Not that it does much, but at least it makes it obvious for the next wave ban. By the way, their names are qazxxy and qazxxy(1), playing in EU in case you encounter them.
Lastly, and to end my rant, if there's one low effort thing Psyonix can do is share the knowledge on how to identify bots so that more players are aware of it and more bans can come out. It should really be an automated process at some point, and if more players can identify bots, then surely it's easier to automate the bans if they're getting exceedingly higher ban numbers than other players.
