Today I didn’t feel strong… but I made it anyway.
I don’t really know how to write this without sounding dramatic, but today was heavy. One of those days where you’re doing all the normal things, answering messages, eating something, moving from one room to another, while inside you feel like you’re carrying a backpack full of rocks. I kept thinking, why is this so hard for me when everyone else makes it look easy? But I’m trying to practice gratitude in a way that doesn’t ignore the hurt, so here it is: I’m grateful I still showed up. I’m grateful for the tiny mercies, water that tasted good, a warm shower, clean clothes, a song that made me breathe a little deeper, the fact that my body kept going even when my mind wanted to shut down. I’m grateful for the people who don’t even realize they helped: the cashier who was patient, the friend who replied “I’m here” instead of trying to fix me, the stranger who smiled like I wasn’t invisible. And I’m grateful for this quiet stubborn part of me that refuses to give up, even when I don’t feel brave. If you’re reading this and you’re in that same stuck, tired place… I’m really glad you’re still here too. We made it through today. That counts for something.
