Need new skis - Black Crows Camox?
Background: skiing the mid Atlantic area for 33 years, 35yo,6’, 200lbs.
Used to ski 7 days a week during the season until around age 20, which is when I bought my last pair of skis. Former park rat coming from long line of 4Frnt freestyle skis (see my username). Most recent skis are a pair of 2010 179cm K2 Kung Fujas and an 80 Flex Salomon Foil boot.
I get in about a week a year now on that old equipment, and it’s fared well but I know it may be on borrowed time, plus I’ll be teaching my twin 4 year olds to ski this year.
Got a line on a pair of Black Crows Camox 186cm with tyrolia attack 14 and Atomic Hawx Prime 110 boots package for about $900.
I’ve read that these skis do all things well but not one particular thing great. Mainly I’ll be skiing mid Atlantic crud with 1-2 trips a year north to Vermont.
How do these skis fare charging groomers? I don’t want a symmetrical twin as I’m past that stage in my skiing life, but I do like the idea of a directional twin because I like to rip the occasional top to bottom switch run.
I’ve also considered going back to 4FRNT and getting the new MSP 99’s but they’re substantially more expensive for something I’m going to be using far less frequently than I used to.
