Does metal gear delta get better after awhile?

I haven’t played a metal gear since the ps1 game but decided to pick up delta because it’s on sale. I’m not very far, just fighting the hornet boss. So far, it’s been really really bad though. The stealth is rudimentary, the controls are clunky, the boss fights have been just stand there and shoot. I’m hoping it gets better. Does it get better or if I don’t like it so far should I just save my time?
