Curly Cuts: Good or Bad? Pls lmk!!

Need Advice

Hi! So as I’ve been wearing my natural hair out more, I’ve fallen into a serious rabbit hole on this subreddit. Lately, I keep seeing comments saying curly cuts aren’t that great, and now I’m kind of second-guessing things.

I got a curly cut back in April because I just wasn’t happy with my 4C hair. I’ve been natural my whole life, but I could never figure out the right products or routine. The stylist recommended a whole lineup of products, and honestly, my hair has been retaining moisture for the first time. I actually feel good about my hair now! She cut it while it was wet and mainly trimmed the back since she said I had a little “tail” situation going on. She didn’t take off all my split ends because she said it would make my hair look super short once it shrank, and I don’t have a ton anyway. However, she did suggest getting regular trims to keep the shape.

Context on my hair: Since I spent most of my teens and college years trying products that never worked, I’ve decided to stick with whatever she suggests for now. She mentioned my hair was in pretty rough shape moisture-wise, and I don’t want to mess that up. I’ve only straightened my hair once and probably won’t do it again anytime soon (maybe for a length check way down the line). I do blow-dry for protective styles like cornrows, twists, and braids, but I’m taking a break from extensions for a while.

I have another appointment with her at the end of the month, but after reading some posts here, I’m low-key questioning whether I should keep it. Should I go? What are the actual pros and cons of curly cuts?
