• How strong is Pitt Econ in fields like urban and spatial economics, development, applied micro, or economic history? Which areas have the most active faculty-student research?

• The culture in the department — collaborative, competitive, supportive?

• How would you describe the faculty culture in the department? Are professors generally supportive, accessible, and open to collaborating with PhD students?
