QS placement hunt is a joke! Starting to feel like uni was pointless

I’m trying to get a Quantity Surveying placement and honestly it feels impossible. I’ve applied to loads of roles, got exceptional grades, have worked on construction sites as a labourer, and even have family in the industry, and I’m still getting nowhere.

The few companies that reply just throw me into some weird HireVue AI interview that feels like a Black Mirror episode. Talking to a camera with no human on the other side is just insane, and I freeze up every time.

It’s getting to the point where I’m starting to think I should’ve just skipped uni, because it feels like everyone can go nowadays even with mediocre A Level grades and it doesn’t seem to give you any real advantage.

Is anyone else struggling this much? Or is the QS placement market just dead?
