A Hunch - Our unreliable narrator

SpoilerSPOILERS Shadows Upon Time

It is just a hunch, but as I re-read the series after completing SUT, I am increasingly certain Hadrian lied extensively about the fates of Orphan and the Demiurge. Beyond the surreal, sudden, truncated feeling of the chapters containing the end of Orphan's and the ship, there are clues in other books that lead me to believe both are still with Hadrian at the time of writing.

For one example, in Howling Dark Hadrian speaks of the waterside on Demiurge where he first dies "but that place - even the memory of it - chills me."

When I first read these early books, I often assumed there were errors and careless language not yet knowing the writing is anything but careless. The distinction "even the memory" seems very deliberate and points to it STILL chilling him in the present.

There are other clues but I still need to re-re-read some parts to put it all together. I think Hadrian is a good liar but leaves hints for some specific "dear reader" to follow.
