Tea towels for nativity headdress

This might be UK specific, but are teachers still using tea towels - and I mean visibly obvious tea towels, not neutral coloured fabric - as head costumes for shepherds etc in school nativities? Is this not an outdated practice now? Particularly considering the use of ‘tea towel’ as a common racist slur?

Parents, if any, what are your thoughts on this?

The last post I could find on Reddit was from several years ago. Wondering what the present day consensus is.

To clarify, I understand that some people don’t agree with having a nativity at all. However, I’m just wondering about opinions on tea towels specifically.
