Looking for Advice on Starting a Mobile Locksmith Business (Automotive or Full Service)

Hey everyone, I’m currently researching how to get started in the mobile locksmith field and wanted to ask for some guidance from people who are already in the industry.

I’ve seen a few different training options and I’m trying to figure out what path makes the most sense: • Full locksmith courses (residential, commercial, automotive) for around $5,000–$6,000 with 4–6 weeks of hands-on classes • Automotive-only locksmith courses for about $2,000 for one week of hands-on training • Residential + commercial locksmith courses (with basic car unlocks but no programming/key cutting) for around $3,000 • Some cheaper training options, but unfortunately not available in my state

For those who are experienced: • How did you personally get started? • Which type of training is worth the investment? • Is automotive locksmithing alone enough to start a mobile business? • Any tips on tools, marketing, or avoiding beginner mistakes? • If you took this career seriously, were you able to make a good living from it?

Any advice, insights, or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
