Genuine OEM parts vs. Rep Parts and making reputable choices?

Hi Folks, can I get some insight from you experts around genuine OEM vs. Rep parts, cases etc.

Where/how does one discern between the two?

...And, where does one source genuine OEM parts that would not be frowned upon by the community when building mods for clients whilst having credibility, integrity etc. and a reputation that proceeds these things ?
