I so did not need this kind of commentary about my anxiety.
Hey, so I have a solo flight coming up this week. It’s so anxiety-inducing, but somehow talking about it with someone weirdly relaxes me. I was just discussing it with someone at work earlier today, and she wants to see the hotel room I booked and stuff. I take out my phone to show her and she notices something about that I wasn’t aware of *at all*.
She said ‘Why is your hand so shaky?’ and I was kinda surprised she commented on that, and I said ‘I have a lot of anxiety about this trip’. Then not even 20 seconds later she tells someone else who was in the same room ‘You see how much his hand is shaking?!’.
What the heck?! New insecurity unlocked - Thanks! Now I have this recurring thought implanted in my head: ‘What if my hand shakes when I show my flight details at the airport? What if it shakes as I pay for food, or when I try to check in at the hotel?’
I *know* it’s not the end of the world, but as anxiety sufferers, we don’t want people to notice the signs. Be it shaky hands, sweaty palms, blushing, whatever. So yeah… I wish I didn’t know my hands even shake when I’m anxious. Just annoying how people can comment on that multiple times.
