HY2GEN Has Major H2 Plans

There is plenty more. Coming besides this 5 mW Hy2gen's plans include building new green hydrogen and e-fuels production facilities in locations like Oulu, Finland, and Campeche, Mexico, to produce renewable ammonia and e-fuels for various industries, including shipping. The company is focused on accelerating its projects to reach the construction phase by 2027 and has recently secured an additional €47 million in funding to support this goal. Hy2gen aims to develop and operate plants using its DBOO (Design-Build-Own-Operate) model.

Key projects and plans

  • Finland: Hy2gen is developing a 200 MW green hydrogen and e-fuels plant in the port of Oulu, which is intended to become the largest e-fuel hub in the Baltic Sea region.
  • Mexico: The company is planning a 200 MW renewable ammonia production plant, named MARENGO, in Campeche, Mexico. It is expected to produce 180,000 tonnes of renewable ammonia annually, with the European Union as the core market.
  • Norway: A milestone has been reached for the Iverson renewable ammonia plant in Norway, with the local council approving the zoning plan. The plant will use hydropower and is designed to reduce significant amounts of CO₂ emissions.
  • France: The Sunrhyse project in Signes, France, aims to produce renewable and decarbonized hydrogen for local distribution and mobility. It will start with a capacity of 4 MW and expand to 30 MW in the future.

Strategic and financial development

  • Funding: Hy2gen raised €47 million in funding to accelerate its projects towards the final investment decision and construction phase by 2027.
  • Development pipeline: The company has a large project pipeline with 880 MW in planning and construction and a further 12,000 MW in the development phase.
  • Investment model: Hy2gen is implementing the DBOO model to manage the entire value chain of its hydrogen and e-fuel projects.
