ISO 14001 HELP!

I just hired into an organization that was without an EHS supervisor/manager for quite a while. I hired in a couple months ago and had an internal 14001 audit a month after hiring in and I now have an external 14001 audit the middle of next year. As someone who is brand new to ISO standards, what advice can be shed here?
