Swipe up to go home gesture suddenly way worse (P9P)

Something changed recently where my swipe up to go home gesture is not being recognized as well as it used to be. Often it'll swipe up on the keyboard or just not get recognized at all. I am not sure if this was an unintended or stealth change or something. Wondering if I'm the only one who is noticing this?
