There are moments in Alaska’s wild heart when the world seems to pause, when the only movement is the slow drift of clouds and the gentle ripple of water. “Reflections of Wilderness” was born from one of those rare times, traveling with my dog, camera in hand and mind searching for stillness.

In this image, the mountains stand as silent witnesses, their snow-dusted peaks mirrored perfectly in the glassy lake below. The silhouettes of trees and the delicate scatter of lily pads create a tapestry of textures, each detail a testament to the resilience and tranquility that define this landscape.

I deliberately chose to present this scene in monochrome, knowing that the absence of color intensifies its emotional impact. By focusing on form, light, and shadow, I hope to foster a deeper, more contemplative connection to nature, one that transcends the surface and touches something essential within us. My intention is to encourage one not only to appreciate the beauty of these wild places, but to feel a sense of responsibility for their protection.

This photograph is more than a record of a place. It’s a meditation on connection. It’s about finding healing in nature’s embrace, and remembering that even in solitude, we are part of something vast and enduring. Through this image, I hope to inspire wonder and a renewed commitment to conserve the fragile places that remind us who we are.
