Cable Sweater Starter Pattern

One of my next skills to work on is cabling. I have made a number of striped sweaters, so I am ready for the next challenge!

I am thinking of Ravelry: Arco Iris pattern by Joji Locatelli as my first go since the cabling is a small portion of the design. Is this a reasonable start or am I setting myself up for more than the usual frustration of learning?
