Advice on higher mileage modern BMWs, and what route to go down.

Advice

Hi all - looking for some advice as I've had older higher mileage BMs, but not modern ones. All advice welcome, even welcome to call me a right banana for even considering it.

I currently have a 170k mileage Land Rover which is driving me insane with failures. I've looked online and can finance a 2016 435d X Drive for £260 p month over 5yrs, which is a car I've wanted for a long time. My only hesitation is its on 98,000 miles so I'm worried about potential bills given I'm trying to avoid the Land Rover experience as I'll call it.

Can anyone please advise pros/cons? It's not my main car - I have a company car for that - but I would like something that will actually get me to my destination on its own wheels, not a recovery truck. I'm also fairly handy with DIY and computers and have a decent toolkit so can do a lot of the work myself.

Previous BMW experience was a E46 330ci.

I've also been looking at Passat CCs which are about £100pm cheaper, or I can continue to invest in the Discovery which must be running out of parts to replace now - I'm just worried about the mileage on the motor now.

All advice greatly appreciated!
