“Jack of all trades, master of none, oftentimes better than a master of one”

In my case, I was a jack of all trades before. In the summer, I was listening all over the place. Mac Demarco, The Strokes, TV Girl, Modern Baseball, Dire Straits, U2, Mos Def, A$AP Rocky, Joey Bada$$, Lucki, Mac Miller, Title Fight, Radioh. Injury Reserve, and so on (not exactly the most niche music taste ik). But I did primarily find my stride in stuff like cloud rap and boom bap. Not a day went by where I didn’t listen to Testing or LIVE.LOVE.A$AP. A$AP was genuinely my favorite artist. But suddenly, a shift happened. I really started to like 90’s alt, and soon after, I ended up pushing away anything that didn’t mesh into my identity and began choosing things that did fit into my identity, which included rap music. It even got to the point where I was desperately trying to “rewrite” my wrapped to erase any traces of A$AP Rocky on there, which proved futile considering he was in second place. But now that I see it, maybe it isn’t the worst thing ever. Right now, I’m really enjoying darker stuff like post punk and grunge, maybe a little bit of shoegaze. Stupid question, but do you think this cloud rap/introspective rap identity (A$AP Rocky, Mac Miller, Lucki, Joey Bada$$, Kendrick Lamar, Mos Def, Vince Staples) could fit into my current identity (Soundgarden, AiC, HANL, Joy Division, The Smashing Pumpkins, Title Fight, Nirvana, etc.)? Any suggestions for other rap artists?
