tried to ask my crush out.. but he didn’t want me to waste my money 🥲

here’s what happened today. i asked this guy if he was free after our bio exam next week. he kept asking “why?” before i even finished explaining, which made me nervous so i said “nothing.” he looked confused and waited for me to continue. i told him i was planning to treat someone for lunch and he immediately said i shouldn’t waste my money and should treat his bsf instead, he looked kind of relieved when he said it 😔

i joked “omg you’re rejecting me 💔” and he said nah, he just didn’t want me to waste money, even after i said i want to waste money on him. he didn’t ask why i wanted to treat him. when i softly said “nooo” to treating his bsf, i realized i sounded different than usual, maybe softer, tho he didn’t question it.

in the morning, he was sitting alone and looked at me for a moment when he grabbed a chair. i went up to him and asked how studying physics was (we were gonna have physics exam at the time). he said “ok,” and i reacted to it. then i joked that i wanted to kick him rn but couldn’t because i was wearing a skirt (yesterday we texted and i joked abt wanting to kick him, he said i could try but i’m short). he just said “okay,” and when i got annoyed playfully, he said “so what? what do you want me to do?” hmm..

overall the whole interaction felt like he noticed something was off, but he didn’t act weird or avoid me. what does it mean?! did i accidentally expose myself?! 😭😭
