prescription cancelled because of my drinking

hi, i’ve been taking anti psychotics for 2.5 years now and they’ve really helped me. i became a full blown alcoholic about 2 years ago but i wasn’t honest about it with my mental health team until now.

so far ive been met with nothing but judgement and now my psychiatrist is making me quit my medication cold turkey because “it’s not safe to drink heavily and take it”.

i’m absolutely terrified because i don’t think i will be able to function at all without the meds. i’m scared ill lose my job. i don’t know what to do. i think its completely unreasonable to make me go cold turkey. in a way i can understand them cancelling the prescription but at the same time im hanging on by a thread. i’m in constant crisis and they’re taking away the one thing holding me together. at least wean me off of it.

admitting i was an alcoholic out loud took a lot of courage and i told them im not ready to see the addiction support team yet because im not ready to stop drinking yet. i just feel like no one will meet me halfway or listen to me. they wont give me therapy or medication until i get sober. but i think without those things im just going to drink more and more. i’m scared.

i guess this is just a vent post. no one in my life knows the extent of my drinking so i can’t talk about it with anyone. just wanted to shout my thoughts into the void. thanks
