Dad gamer here, Horde or Ally?

Going to start again to play TBC this time round, I normally main Rogue but understand it's god awful in TBC until late (minus PvP). So I'm going mage. Seems like a great PvE/vP class in the exp,

I am a dad gamer/shift worker so I'm wondering what side is better for Casual raiding and RBGs? As I won't be able to consistently raid every week, more bi-weekly and PUG the one I miss.
