Wanting to move out at 19 to another state, how should I plan?

Need Advice

Hey there, don’t want to sound like a stupid kid with unreachable goals, just trying to get some solid advice.

I’ve been super conflicted with life and started wanting to move out right around my 19th birthday, just a year and a half away. I want to move out of state as well. For context, my parents own no assets, have horrible credit scores, no jobs, both addicts, etc. they are not reliable.

I am desperately attempting to get a job in my last year and a half of high school so that I can save up almost everything. I also plan to sell some stuff for bonus cash, like my pricey computer. I also will probably defer enrollment or go to community college, as far as I know I get a large amount of tuition paid for me due to my families financial situation.

I plan to move in with another person for the foreseeable future (relationship type deal, and by that point if we were together still I have full faith that’d be permanent.) We’ve found some condos for around $250k that suit what we want; small, clean, in the city, just for a general idea of what we could get.

I thought that, in order to relocate, we would set up a sublet situation for a few months - a year while we find stable income, and then find a place to try to purchase.

I just need a boat load of advice about this all. 1. How much should we plan on saving? We plan to move to Jersey City or a cheaper part of NYC (no Bronx. I know nothing is “cheap” but we’d take a cardboard box if we needed to, as long as it’s in the area.) 2. What could we do to prove ourselves as reliable as possible? 3. What should we begin doing as soon as possible, other than saving, to ensure things don’t go horribly? 4. What do I need to do once I relocate?
