Affordable places to eat for college students?

My friend and I meet up weekly for lunch but we never know good places to get something to eat and always end up at some fast food place. Most of the recommendations I see for Cork lunch places are in mccurtain street or marina market which are unfortunately a bit of a trek coming from UCC so our research never gets us too far. I'm not really looking for anything fancy or too expensive, just somewhere nice where we can have a chat and a good meal. Thanks!
