Was cheated out of a tennis tournament (England)

Hi, my friend and I took part in a tennis tournament. After 15 matches, our team had the highest score on the leaderboards so we were suppose to win the prize of 5K. But we were then told by the organizer that we can't claim the prize because we didn't win? There is a clause in our contract which states that the judges have the final say in who wins at the end of the tournament. So the entire tournament was a waste of time because they awarded the victory to the 3rd place team... is there anyway we can sue him for this? Do we have legal ground, I plan on seeing a lawyer next week but I just want to know if it is worth the time pursuing. Thank you
