I drink, she drinks, and her dad drinks.

Hi, 30 year old male, and I’m trying to understand something. My mother (70+), has a problem with lashing out when she sees me drinking any adult beverage. She yells, I try to talk to her in measured tones but she also cuts me off in every conversation I have with her. she gets overstimulated ( I think). Mind you, I’m not going out and driving/ partying or anything I just end watching movies or tv, while drinking. we live together ( so I can check on her). Again I don’t go out and haven’t been outside going crazy or any thing. Th other kicker for me is- she drinks! ( not a lot) but she has her wine and she has even asked me for booze at the end of a long day.

But if I drink when she’s not, she loves to bring up her dad who was an abusive drinker! He stopped drinking and passed away when I was like 1 years old.

I understand that that is her trauma but, I wasn’t there, I am nothing of the sort. And after lift packages for 5 hours, I would love a cocktail without judgement.
