Urgent third rec letter dilemma
(throwaway)
Hey everyone,
I’m applying to a few master’s programs right now with the earliest due on Dec. 15, but this entire time I’ve been having a hard time getting rec letters for my applications. I thankfully had 2 professors agree to write one, but securing the third has been a huge pain. I’ve emailed around 7 professors overall over the past month, most of whom ghosted even when I followed up.
One of my professors I emailed a month ago finally responded late last week asking to set up a Zoom meeting, but didn’t directly say whether he would agree or not. I quickly emailed back asking for a time, but still haven’t gotten a response, even with follow ups.
At this point, I’m panicking and don’t really know the best way to proceed, especially with the deadline coming in 11 days. I definitely plan to follow up with this professor a few more times, as I believe he can write a strong letter for me. I know everyone is really busy given that it’s the end of the semester. Should I be emailing other professors now about this situation, even if it’s this close to the deadline and I don’t know them well? I don’t have work experience, so work recommenders are out of the question, nor am I close enough to my college to meet to my professors in person let alone any way to contact them besides email.
Help!
