Crashing out about surgery for thyroid nodule

In 2022 I got an MRI and they coincidentally found a thyroid nodule. Back then it was only 1cm. In June, I got an ultrasound and now it measures 4.4cm. 6 months later and I’m pretty sure this has grown more, because now it’s bothering me in daily life and shows up in pictures. I occasionally do modeling work and I have become conscious of my neck.

As I wait for my ultrasound to be scheduled I am freaking out about a few things. Will I likely have to remove half of my thyroid?

Also, four years ago I had surgery for scoliosis (titanium rods screwed to my spine now). I had a severe reaction to the glue that closed my back and now I have a scar from the severity of the contact dermatitis. Are there alternatives to this glue—possibly stitches? I do fear about possible weight changes as well. My thyroid is perfectly functioning, it’s just that this nodule is huge. I don’t know if its removal will mess with my hormones.

Judging from my spine surgery, I know that most people resort to Reddit when they have bad experiences; it seems that most surgeries are successful and definitely not as hardcore as what I’ve experienced in the past. But I can’t help but have worries about my thyroid.
