[KCD2] Soundtrack is an All Time Great
Turns out on Apple Music, KCD2's soundtrack was my most listened to album.
Aside from the fact my most listening by a country mile is Electronic, that's no surprise, because it's . fantastic. For me, it's one of the greatest OST's ever made in video games. Even in a vintage year for game music— between it, DS2 and E33, I don't recall a better year, ever.
I think the reason it didn't get a nomination is down to it not sound great in game. For the other two mentioned greats, the music often takes over and becomes front and center. In Death Stranding 2, traveling across the world, hearing Woodkid or Low Roar is haunting, never mind Ludvig Forssell's score. The eclecticism of E33 takes over especially in combat and is perfect every time for every location—I still hear the Gestral beach music. But if you listen to KCD2 out of game, it's completely elevated. I have it on vinyrl and it's just glorious I understand people say the awards don't matter, but I think they kind of do, and I'm in a way devastated this didn't the nomination it richly deserved.
