Tooth abscess help.

M(26) I had an abscess around 2 weeks ago on a tooth I had root canal on prior. abscess cleared after taking antibiotics and has remained cleared. I understand that the infection is still there as the core issue of the infection has to be dealt with for this to be removed, however my dentist was unable to book me in until February-2 months away. Is it okay to wait that long or should I call to try a closer appointment? I read that an abscess can lead to serious health risks which is worrying however the dentist didn’t seem bothered that he could only fit me in 2 months on. Am I overthinking this or should I call to try get the appointment sooner.

I have/had no pain even when the abscess was filled up. Only symptom I have is an occasional foul taste in my mouth. No sign on my gum of an abscess other than a slight red bump.
