Public health information: A new mind-controlling parasite has been discovered on the Amazon rainforest
Researchers have discovered in the tropical rainforest near the Amazon river a new mind-controlling parasite which can affect humans and other humanoids like nekos or dog people.
The newly discovered parasite, cientific name dimens copulrectoris physically resembles a leech with tiny tentacles where a leech would have its mouth. It enters the human body through the mouth, so, although going to the Amazon currently is heavily discouraged, if you must do so, make sure to wear a face mask. The parasite is visible to the naked eye, but it hides very well in the deep rainforest and has very fast movement.
Once the parasite enters the host, it quickly travels to the brain, where it takes total control over the host. The host will remain conscious and maintain most of its personality, trying to avoid to be discover. More research is needed, but it seems like, once the parasite is in control, the host feels its worries and preocupations to be unimportant, having a similar effect to certain drugs, which can make the host forget about its work or personal relationships.
The host will always deny being infected and will physically resist any attempts to have the parasite extracted, which forces medical personnel to sedate any infected hosts.
The parasite will become even more dangerous if it reaches urban areas, because of the way it spreads itself.
When the parasite in control of its host detects a human or human-adjacent being that it considered as a good potential host, it will divide itself via mitosis and create an immense lust from its current host towards the target. The host then will try to kiss the target on the mouth, without being reluctant to use force. Reasoning with the host or appealing to moral values will lead nowhere, as even though the host still feels in control, its emotions and instincts are being controlled by the parasite.
Once the two mouths make contact, the parasite's copy from before will travel through the target's mouth and towards their brain. Once the kiss starts, the parasite will be in its target's brain in about 20 seconds.
When the parasite has conquered its new host's brain, both hosts will be overcomed by a sexual franzy towards eachother, and they will practice intercourse right there, without consideration of social appropriateness. They will be in this frenzy until they both pass out from exhaustion, as it is then when it's easier for the parasites to root themselves deep into their hosts' brains.
A research team has been sent to the zone to gather more information.Meanwhile, the WHO has asked Brazil's government to heavily monitor the access to the Amazon rainforest, and some countries have started to enforce quarantine periods for people coming from that area. If you know someone who has gone to the Amazon recently, don't meet them until, at least, a couple of weeks after their return, and ask friends and family if they've noticed any changes.
