How do you see the full comment when it shows in your notifications but doesn’t show up in the thread?

Sometimes when you click on a comment in your notifications, it just takes you to the top of the thread you commented in and it’s as though no one responded to you. This isn’t a result of being blocked, since it doesn’t show when you log out of your account. Is there a way to see the full comment when this happens?
