Executive function training--can it work?
Has anyone done any specific training for executive function? And if so, did it help?
I'm 54 and learned somewhat recently, while recovering from a year of brutal long Covid, that I have ADHD. Which explains many things. But since largely recovering I've noticed that some of my ADHD symptoms are significantly worse, in particular my executive function. I think I used to be better at overcoming that deficit with various hacks I'd developed naturally over time. But now I'm struggling worse than ever and really want to rebuild my function--not just to where it was before, which was somewhat effective but ignorant of the way my brain and nervous system work on a deeper level, but better than before by working with my brain instead of bludgeoning it into submission with high-stress force of will.
I like the idea of coaching, but I'm not sure how to find the type of coach I need (ideally an OG with lots of smarts and experience, ideally with writers, because I think I'm a complicated case). What I'd really like is a coach or course or program that focuses on building executive function from the ground up. Would love to hear about people's experiences with anything like this. Thanks!
