Hey! 👋

I built an open-source semantic layer in Python because I feel most analytical tools often require enterprise contracts or paid embedding licenses.

One year back, I was building a product for Customer Success teams that relied heavily on Analytics, and I had a terrible time creating even simple dashboards for our customers. That's because we had to adapt to thousands of metrics across different databases while maintaining multi-tenant isolation, which was really painful. And customers kept asking for self service dashboards when we were already drowning in custom data requests. On top of that, I run a small startup, so we couldn't afford to sign contracts for $50K+ annually.

That's why I built Cortex, a Headless BI that's easy to use, embeds with a single pip install, and works great for building customer-facing dashboards.

Would this be useful for you or anyone you know? Would love some feedback on what can be improved as well. Also, if you found this useful, a star on GitHub would mean a lot 🙏

P.S. Cortex isn't meant to replace your whole data stack. We are focused on just the dashboard embedding part, using a simple API without the complexity of Enterprise BI.

I built an alternative to PowerBI/Tableau/Looker/Domo/Metabase
