Have ASA Graphics Improved from 7 months ago?
I loved and quite easily played ASE over 2k hours and several maps. I play in 3rd person, always. However, when I tried ASA Astreos over 3 short sessions, I found:
- The graphics were way too glitchy for my Lenovo Legion 5 NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti (great on all other games I play), and had to be seriously dialed down, SO THAT
- Graphics looked almost cartoonish and 2-dimensional, and
- When I found a barely okay middle ground, I started getting motion sickness and bad headaches from general character running/movement and from harvesting especially rocks and trees. AND
- At whatever graphics adjustment, harvesting rocks and trees look really fakey and plastic melty - not at all as natural as they had in ASE or other games.
Basically, it turned out that ASA seemed unplayable for me, even as I tried different graphics setups based on tips from friends and YouTube examples.
I would like to try to play Ragnarok (have friends there), in the hopes that it improves with ASA (over the orig ASE) but doesn't cause the motion sickness.
I already know about adjusting the FOV, and turning off camera shake / bloom / motion blur / bobbing / lighting effects, and lowering the sensitivity of my mouse movements. These things usually are enough in most games but with ASA they didn't make much improvement.
- Have graphics improved that have fixed some of this fakey look and motion sickness/FPS stability issues over the past 7 or so months?
- Is some of this due to DirectX 12 (DX12) and Unreal Engine 5, like stuttering, blurriness, & FPS drops- and if so, is there a way to dial those down? Is there much success in trying to force use DX11?
- AND/OR is there a good attractive and workable setting combination that folks have found works for good but not extremely high-end computers/cards?
- Any specific mption-sickness tips that really worked for you on frame generation, stabilizing framerates, screen tearing, minimizing the subtle graphics issues that the eye can't "see" but which still contribute to inner ear/sensory upset?
HELP!!! And thank so much for any insights. :0)
