Give me hope: does messaging actually get better after 30 days? (another RCS post)

Discussion

Just got my Light Phone 3 a few days ago and I'm genuinely in love with everything about it. Delighted every time I turn it on.

I have a genuine question, though (and truly not trying to be snarky):

Why isn't RCS support the absolute #1 priority? Maybe it is?

I know everyone thinks their feature request is the most important feature request, but from everything I'm seeing here and in Discord, RCS seems to be far and away the most discussed issue. And being able to reliably send and receive messages from friends and family feels like table stakes for a usable phone.

Honestly curious though, what am I missing? Is RCS just not as important to other people/or the issue isn't as widespread as it seems to be? Is there some technical or resource limitation to implementing it?

I want this phone to work. If messaging was reliable, I'd be recommending it to everyone I know, even with the keyboard "quirks" and other things they are working on. But right now I can't in good faith do that, and I'll probably have to stop using it altogether if it doesn't resolve after 30 days or so (I did the imessage/RCS de-register stuff 3 days before switching).

Can anyone give me hope? Has anyone who had messaging issues initially actually had their group and individual messaging issues fully resolve to the point where you reliably get all group and individual messages?

I am coming from an Iphone with an e-sim and currently missing all group texts and a few individual texts.
